Get started

What do I need to use Rumbo?

An unlocked iPhone you own or are authorized to use, running iOS 17.4 or later. Setup also requires a Mac or Windows PC, Rumbo Setup, and a USB data cable. Check current download availability before starting.

Do I need the computer every time?

Usually no. You use the computer for initial setup and control the location from your iPhone afterward. A restart, iOS update, reinstall, or pairing issue may require you to reconnect.

Is jailbreak necessary?

No. Rumbo uses the development services that Apple offers for iPhone. It doesn't bypass passcode, Trust, Developer Mode, Activation Lock or any other protection.

Why do you have to activate Developer Mode?

This is the iOS setting that allows you to use development tools, such as location simulation. It is activated in Settings › Privacy & Security › Developer Mode and you can deactivate it whenever you want.

Do I need an account?

No. Rumbo does not have registration or login.

Daily use

How do I apply a location?

Search for a city, place or address, paste coordinates or tap the map. Then tap Apply Location.

How do I get back to my real location?

Open Rumbo and tap Restore Location. If it cannot be confirmed, Rumbo notifies you and keeps the button available to try again.

How do I check that it has worked?

Open Maps: your blue dot should be in the chosen location. Rumbo cannot verify what Find My shows.

What is “Home”?

A saved destination to choose without searching. It doesn't mean your real location: to get back to it, use Restore Location.

Privacy and security

Does Rumbo save or send my data?

Your saved places, recent places, and settings stay on the iPhone. You don't need a Rumbo account. Apple manages maps and purchases; Google serves optional ads and processes data from its SDK. If you request road data, points on that route are sent to Valhalla. See the privacy policy for details and your options.

Does it work with an iPhone that is not mine?

It should not be used like this. Rumbo is intended only for your own iPhone or one that you are authorized to use, as explained in the terms of use.

Will Rumbo ask for my passcode or passwords?

Never. You only enter the passcode on the iPhone itself when iOS asks for it. Be wary of any message that asks you to do so on our behalf.
